I'm working with a motherboard that has only one USB 2.0 header, and it's quite limiting. Right now, I'm using an NZXT Hub that connects via SATA, giving me four usable headers. However, I need just one more header to satisfy my requirements. I'm wondering if I can use a USB splitter cable, like a 1-to-2 splitter, with one of the headers on the hub. Also, if I find myself needing more than one additional header, could I purchase another NZXT hub and connect it to the existing one? I know it would require its own SATA cable, but would that setup work in theory?

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the suggestions. I’ll start with the splitter and see how it goes. If I need more after that, I'll consider the PCIe card as a backup plan.
Another option is to get a PCIe card with additional USB headers. It’s a solid way to boost your ports without messing with splitters. Plus, a 2.0 header splitter could be a temporary fix while you figure things out.
Before jumping into splitters, check if your devices are actually using both rows of pins in their 9-pin connectors. If they’re not utilizing all pins, a splitter might still work, but you won’t be getting the full capacity you might expect.
Got it, that makes sense. My setup has varied pin connections, so I’ll review that to see if I’m fully utilizing the headers.
