I'm currently using an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor along with an RTX 2060, but I'm starting to have performance issues with games like Fortnite, even on low graphics settings. The game frequently stutters, and it feels like my PC is struggling to keep up. I'm not very knowledgeable about PC hardware, so I'm looking for guidance on which CPUs would be compatible upgrades for my setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Before you invest in a new CPU, it might be worth troubleshooting on the software side. Given that your game was running fine a few months back, there could be something else affecting performance. Have you checked for driver updates or other software issues? Reinstalling Fortnite and Discord as your only apps shouldn't be causing that performance drop!
To find out what CPUs you can upgrade to, first check the model of your motherboard. Once you have it, head over to the manufacturer's website and look for the CPU support list. Since your 3700X uses the AM4 socket, you should theoretically be able to use any AM4 CPU, but make sure to check if you need a BIOS update before swapping them out.
While it really depends on your motherboard, a good upgrade option could be the Ryzen 5600X. There are also options like the 5700X or 5800X that offer more cores, but keep in mind that this might not necessarily boost your gaming performance. Also, don't forget to update your motherboard BIOS before making any changes! That being said, upgrading your GPU could give you a bigger performance boost since the 3700X is still a solid processor.
