I recently restarted my MacBook Air M1 and everything seemed fine. But during a Zoom class, I suddenly noticed that full episodes of Spongebob are playing in the background, at the same volume as the Zoom call. When I mute the laptop, the Spongebob audio stops too. I've checked all my open tabs for audio sources, but there's nothing visible. I've never watched Spongebob on my laptop, so this is really puzzling. Could I have been hacked, or is there something else going on here? I'm really struggling to hear my class over the show!

If closing Zoom didn't stop it, that suggests the source is separate. Have you tried just quitting all your browser windows to see if that stops the audio? Sometimes stray tabs can be running without you realizing it.
It's probably something running in a background tab. Most browsers show a speaker icon on tabs that are playing audio. Check all your browser tabs carefully; there might be a site open that you aren’t aware of.

That's a good idea! Also, if you have any browser extensions installed, they might be causing something weird like this. Try disabling them temporarily.
