How Can I Find the Apple ID for a Lost iPad?

My son recently misplaced his iPad, which only has WiFi connectivity. I'm trying to access iCloud and locate the device using the 'Find My' app, but I'm clueless about what the Apple ID is since it was created for him when he was just five years old, and we didn't want to use our own Apple IDs. Does anyone know how I can retrieve the Apple ID? I do have the password for the account and some of the apps he uses. Additionally, the iPad is linked to a phone number. Thanks for any help! By the way, I just realized that it actually has cellular capabilities, so I was wondering if there might be a way to find it through location pings.

Have you checked if Family Sharing was activated? Whenever an Apple ID is created for a child, it should be part of Family Sharing. Just look at the settings on the adult device that helped set it up. Also, keep in mind that Apple doesn’t create Apple IDs; it suggests usernames, and you have to finalize that for it to exist. Good luck!

I actually put his birthday in wrong, so I might have messed that up!

It might be too late for this current situation, but for the future, consider setting up an Apple Family through iCloud. It allows you to link all devices owned by family members. I use it for staying connected with my family’s devices and keeping track of their locations.

Have you tried reaching out to Apple support? If you have any proof of purchase, like receipts, that could be helpful. If you own an iPhone, check its settings too. Go to your name in settings and scroll down; your iPad might be listed there, which could help in locating or connecting with Apple support. You can also dial 1-800-MY-APPLE for assistance!

Does your son have a personal email address? If he does, that’s likely his Apple ID. Without that, it could be tricky since it sounds like it generated a random email instead. Ugh, I feel your pain!

Nope, sadly I let the iPad create a random Apple ID email.

Check to see if his account is part of your Apple Family. You can usually find family members' Apple IDs listed in the settings app, which might help you track it down.
