How can I fix a write-protected USB drive in Windows 11?

Hey everyone! I'm facing a bit of a problem with my USB drive. I recently downloaded some anime videos in MP4 format and wanted to copy them onto my USB. However, I keep getting a message saying the disk is write-protected, so I'm unable to copy any files. I've already tried following a YouTube tutorial where I uninstalled the USB from the device manager, but that didn't work for me. I'm really unsure of what to do next, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You might want to try using the diskpart tool to clean the USB drive. Keep in mind that this will erase everything on the drive, so back up any important files first! To do this, open PowerShell or Command Prompt as an admin and enter these commands sequentially:
1. diskpart
2. list disk
3. select disk X (replace X with your USB's disk number, so be careful!)
4. clean
5. exit
6. exit.
After that, go to Disk Management to initialize and format your USB drive and hopefully, it should work!

If the drive is giving you issues, it might already be faulty. USB drives can fail after years of non-use, especially if you’ve recently loaded a lot of files onto it. Sometimes, too much data can cause problems, but it’s often just a sign that the drive is on its way out. You should test another USB drive if you have one available to rule this out.

That's a bummer! I've had it for years but only just started using it. I hope it’s not completely dead!
