I've been experiencing overheating problems with my Intel i5-12400F since I built my PC back in 2022. The airflow in my case is pretty bad, plus my GPU is positioned right under the CPU, which adds extra heat. I've tried using both the stock cooler and thermal paste, but I'm considering enhancing the airflow either by adding fans to the front and back of the case for better airflow, or even getting a new case altogether. Before I make a decision, I'm wondering if the thermal paste might be the issue, but I'm not entirely sure. My CPU hits 100 degrees Celsius under full load and around 90 degrees at 30% usage, while my GPU sits at about 80 degrees.

One quick fix you could try is to just take the side panel off your case and see if that helps cool things down. If the temps drop, then it's definitely an airflow issue. If not, you might need to consider changing the thermal paste or getting a better cooler altogether.
Your setup definitely needs better airflow. I recommend having at least two intake fans and one exhaust fan to create a nice airflow. If you don't have any fans right now, that’s likely your major issue!
The stock cooler isn't cutting it for your setup – it’s just the bare minimum! You might want to upgrade to a better cooler that could keep your CPU between 60-80 degrees. Check out this cooler that’s under $20; it should make a huge difference. And don’t forget to add at least one intake and one exhaust fan to improve your case ventilation.
Just remove the side panel and run your PC at full load. If you notice a big drop in temperatures, your case needs more fans. I usually find that having fans suck air from the back and top works really well!
