How Can I Fix My PS4 After Being Scammed?

I recently bought a PS4 from a marketplace, and it ended up being different from what was advertised. After I got home and opened it, the seller blocked me on social media. I'm now trying to fix the PS4. I opened it up to clean it out, but when I plugged it in, it beeped three times and went into safe mode.

I connected my controller and see options 1-7, but I can't get past option 7, which requires reinstalling the system software. I tried reinstalling, but it won't detect the software file and gives me the error code su-30676-2. Is my PS4 permanently damaged, or is there a way to revive it?

I've encountered this problem before. Make sure to fully exit safe mode first. If it keeps beeping three times, it sounds like it might be stuck. You should also check out the official PlayStation support page for proper instructions on updating your PS4's hard drive.

A quick web search shows that error code su-30676-2 usually indicates a failed software update. If DIY methods don’t work, it may be time to reach out to Sony's customer support for expert help.

You might still have a chance! Try using a FAT32 USB drive with the PS4 reinstallation file (not the update file). Make sure it’s named PS4UPDATE.PUP and placed in the folder structure PS4/UPDATE/. Remember, use ALL UPPERCASE for the file and folders! If that doesn’t work, it could be worth trying another USB drive or checking if the hard drive itself has failed.

You should try updating via USB again. Just ensure the folder structure is correct; it should be PS4/UPDATE with your .PUP file in the UPDATE folder. It can take a few tries because the USB ports can be finicky. If updates fail partially, though, it might mean the hard drive has issues.
