I've been having trouble with Discord and Spotify not opening on my PC. I uninstalled and reinstalled both programs, but that didn't help. I scanned my computer with Windows and Malware Bytes, and it found a Trojan, which was removed. I also ran an offline scan, but now I can't delete the Discord files from my %appdata% folder because it says I don't have permission. I've tried various command line commands as an administrator to restore ownership and delete the files, but I keep getting access denied. I'm really worried about this issue. Can anyone help me?

It sounds like you’re dealing with leftover permissions issues after the malware was removed. Sometimes, malicious software can mess up file ownership, even if it's been deleted. I’d recommend manually taking ownership of the Discord folder in %appdata% and then resetting the permissions from an elevated command prompt. If that doesn’t work, try booting into safe mode and deleting the Discord folders from there. Safe mode tends to be less strict about locked files. If you’ve confirmed that there’s no active malware, it’s just a clean-up issue. If it gets too complicated, consider doing a repair install of Windows, as that usually fixes underlying permission issues without wiping your data.

Thanks for the advice! How would I go about doing a repair install of Windows?
