How can I fix the 60Hz limitation when duplicating my monitor to a TV?

I recently purchased a new TV and connected it to my PC so my girlfriend can watch while I play games. However, I've noticed that when I duplicate my main monitor, which has a refresh rate of 240Hz, to the TV, some games only run at 60Hz. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

You might want to consider using software like OBS. You can set it to capture your main monitor and then project that to the TV. This approach lets you retain your 240Hz on the main display while still showing gameplay on the TV without lag. I've done it before, and it works perfectly for me!

That sounds like a solid solution! Thanks a bunch, I’ll give it a try.

Yeah, in duplicate mode, both displays synchronize to the slowest refresh rate—that's likely why you're capped at 60Hz. If you need to maintain higher refresh rates while playing, you’ll have to choose another method, like extending your desktop instead of duplicating it.

I see! Thanks for clarifying. I just thought I could get 240Hz for all games while duplicating.

When you duplicate your screens, the system defaults to the lowest refresh rate of the two displays. Since your TV is likely 60Hz, that's what both will run at while in duplicate mode, limiting your gaming experience. You can’t get more than 60fps with that setup.

Got it! But I noticed that I was able to play League of Legends at 240Hz. Is that because I used the borderless window mode?
