How Can I Fix the Read-Only Issue on My USB Linux Installation?

I recently discovered that when I install Linux on a USB drive, it causes my other drives to mount as read-only. Can someone confirm if this is true and suggest how I can resolve it? I can't access Windows at the moment since I'm not dual-booting.

It sounds like you're running into some mounting issues. Have you tried remounting the drives? Sometimes that can help but it might not always work. If that doesn't help, tell us what drives you're having trouble with, as there are different solutions depending on the file system.

Just to clarify, are you imaging the .iso file onto the USB with something like balenaEtcher? Also, it's key to know what type of drives you're trying to access. For NTFS, they need specific mount options to allow full access. And if a filesystem has problems, it might automatically mount as read-only to protect your data.

Yeah, I used a USB and I have two external drives, one HDD and one SSD.
