How can I get my old laptop to boot in UEFI mode for Windows 11?

I'm trying to install Windows 11 on my older laptop since support for Windows 10 is ending soon. I used Rufus to create a bootable USB without the compatibility check, and that part went smoothly. However, when I tried to boot from the USB to install Windows 11, I found that my laptop is stuck in legacy mode. I thought switching to UEFI mode would be simple, but I can't find the option in the boot menu. What steps can I take to get my laptop to boot in UEFI mode instead?

Honestly, if you're unable to access UEFI mode, your best bet might be to consider upgrading to a newer laptop that supports UEFI directly.

What's the model of your laptop? If it’s an older model, it might not support UEFI boot at all.

It sounds like you might have formatted your USB drive incorrectly. If you're planning to use UEFI, your drive needs to be set up with GPT partitioning. If your laptop is using Legacy BIOS, then it should be MBR. Try rebuilding your USB with MBR settings in Rufus and see if that helps!

Thanks for confirming! I had a feeling that might be the issue.

I don't think that's what OP is asking. They mentioned they burnt the USB in UEFI mode and want to install Windows 11 in that mode, but their laptop won't switch to UEFI, which is the main concern.
