Hey everyone, I need some help. I've discovered two atomicstealer malware infections on my Mac that CleanMyMac flagged, but I can't remove them since I don't have the paid version. The specific files are: 1) com.finder.helper.plist (atomicstealer) and 2) .agent (atomicstealer). I was able to get rid of an Adobe activation tool that's considered riskware, but I'm stuck with these atomic stealers. To make matters worse, my Instagram account got hacked due to this. Today, I also encountered a weird popup in Chinese with some text labeled 'macked.app' and an 'ok' prompt. Can anyone suggest how I can remove these?

One option is to reinstall macOS from a USB drive. Just search online for a guide on how to do this—it should walk you through the steps. This might be the cleanest way to get rid of any malware.

But isn’t there another way besides reinstalling? What if I want to keep my files?
