Is my new Dell laptop’s battery already failing?

I just bought a brand new Dell Vostro laptop from my college campus store on the 18th, so I've only had it for a few days. I set it up with all the apps I need for my classes without any issues. But on my first day of classes, after charging it overnight, I unplugged it the next morning and it wouldn't turn on unless it was plugged in. This happened just two days after I got it! I even tried opening the back panel and unplugging the battery, which worked temporarily, but now I'm back to square one. The laptop occasionally turns off, and I'm getting error messages stating that the computer can't communicate with the battery, with one message saying the battery is 'no longer functional' and needs to be replaced. I plan to return the laptop since I'm still within the 14-day exchange policy, but I'm curious if anyone has an idea of what might be going on with the battery. My battery health report looks normal, and the capacity matches the design capacity. It's just surprising to have a battery issue with a brand new device!

But just a heads up—if you opened the case, you might want to be cautious when you go for the return. It could potentially void your warranty.
