I'm not very experienced with Google Admin compared to Office 365, and I'm trying to figure out how to give a user access to another mailbox directly from the admin console. I know that users can delegate access themselves, but I'm looking for a way to set this up as an admin. Is there a straightforward method to achieve this in Google Workspace?

You might want to check out GAM (Google Apps Manager) for this. While the admin console has some capabilities, there’s a lot that it doesn't cover. GAM allows you to manage permissions through the command line, which is usually necessary for more advanced settings like full mailbox access.
Definitely recommend looking at the GAM documentation! It has a step-by-step guide for creating mail delegation using command line. Just be prepared to roll up your sleeves a bit for this one!
Yeah, command line can be a bit of a hassle, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty powerful!
I've noticed too that it seems there isn't an easy GUI option for this. It's all command-line work. If that's a hurdle for anyone who isn't super tech-savvy, it's something to consider.
