How can I improve my monitor’s resolution from 720p?

I'm struggling to get my monitor to display in HD instead of 720p. I've tried creating a custom resolution using the NVIDIA Control Panel, but it's not working out well. My custom resolution is set to 1216x, which I know isn't really a proper resolution. The quality still feels like 720p, and I'm facing issues with my desktop icons being scattered and not draggable to the bottom of the screen. I've heard about a program called CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) that might help, but I'm unsure how to use it properly since I haven't found any clear tutorials. Also, I can't view images as the Windows Picture App isn't functioning well, which complicates things further. Basically, I'm looking for a better, free program that can help fix my resolution issues without all the hassle. Any suggestions?

Just a heads up, you really should use the native resolution of your monitor whenever possible. Custom resolutions can cause more issues than they solve. If your monitor's native resolution doesn't work, there might be an underlying compatibility issue. Can you tell us what monitor you're using?

Totally agree! Native resolutions are designed for your display, so using those prevents a lot of headaches.
