How Can I Install an M.2 SSD Without Opening My Computer?

I want to upgrade my wife's computer from a regular solid state drive to an M.2 SSD. I'm not very tech-savvy, I can only handle basic tasks like installing RAM. Is there a way to set up the M.2 SSD without physically opening the computer? I've tried to have my friend help me, but whenever he tries to install Windows on it, the computer doesn't detect the M.2 drive. Could my friend have overlooked something? I'm also certain that her motherboard has a slot for an M.2 SSD.

First off, you’ll need to check if her motherboard supports either NVMe or SATA M.2 SSDs, since they both look the same but are different in terms of compatibility. If it supports NVMe, you’re good to go!
