I'm not super tech-savvy, and I just want to play games on my PC without all the background stuff that comes with platforms like Steam. Since I switched to GOG, I've been launching my games through their client, and it feels too similar to what I was trying to avoid. I want to install my GOG games straight onto my computer so I can run them directly from a shortcut, without needing an internet connection or worrying about updates each time I want to play a single-player game. Is that possible?

All GOG games come with offline game installers. Go to your library on the GOG website, and scroll past the big 'Download and install now' button. Look for the 'Download offline backup game installers' section, expand it, and you'll find the actual standalone installers. Just a heads-up, some installers might be split into parts, so you'll need all of those to get it working! Just remember that sometimes the offline installers can be a little late to get updated when new games come out.
Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for! I was a bit confused, but it’s all clear now. I see why they push the Galaxy installer as a business move, but I appreciate knowing I have the offline option.
Check GOG to see if they provide an offline installer for the game. If they do, you can download and use that. Otherwise, you'll need to use the GOG launcher to install the games.
You can actually just go to the game's folder on your computer and launch the game directly using the .exe file. There's no need to change anything if you just want to play.
If you right-click the .exe file, there's an option called 'Send to.' If you click on that, you can just create a shortcut on your desktop for easy access!

This is great info. Many people will benefit from this, not just the OP!
