Hey everyone! I just wrapped up my installation of Linux Mint and made sure everything is updated. This is my first dabble with Linux, and I'm eager to get my programs installed on my secondary drive. I've got a 500 GB primary drive for booting and a 3 TB second drive that I want to use for programs like Discord and Steam. Any advice on how to effectively use that second drive? Thanks for your help, and sorry if my English isn't perfect—it's not my first language!

When it comes to Linux, programs generally get installed in specific locations that are managed by the system, so you don’t have direct control like you might in Windows. For Steam, though, you can set up a new library location directly in its settings and choose to install games on your second drive from there. That’s a pretty straightforward way to use your extra space!

Yes, it’s technically possible to install programs on a different drive, but I'd recommend against it if you’re just starting out. It requires some configuration work like setting up a binary directory and adding it to your system path. If you're not comfortable with that, it could lead to headaches down the line!

Totally agree! Linux can be flexible, but it can also be complex if you're just getting used to it. Best to stick with the recommendations for now.
