How Can I Level Up My Skills as a Junior Developer When Work Isn’t Helping?

Hey folks! I'm a junior software engineer, and I've been working with Java Spring Boot for backend, Angular for frontend, and a little bit of Azure DevOps. Lately, though, I feel like my job isn't really pushing me to learn new skills or grow. I want to develop as a programmer and aim for more advanced positions, but I'm not sure how to spend my free time effectively—especially without burning out on the weekends. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

One great way to upscale your skills is to start a side project. It can be anything that excites you! The key is to make it something that challenges you and lets you explore new technologies or concepts. If you're feeling adventurous, consider integrating some AI into your project to keep up with current trends.

That's an interesting idea, but do you think a standard project would be enough? I feel like it definitely needs an AI component these days.
