How Can I Make My PC Quieter While Gaming at 4K?

I'm currently experiencing some really loud noise from my PC while gaming at 4K, despite having installed several Arctic fans in a good push/pull configuration. I've got an EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 12GB graphics card, and even with the fan curve set to 'silent,' it still seems quite loud. I've gone into the BIOS to adjust my case fans to respond to the PCIEx16 temperature instead of the CPU temp since my CPU (7800x3d) doesn't usually get that hot. I would love some advice on how to reduce the noise. I'm even open to trading my graphics card for a quieter option or replacing all my case fans with Noctuas if necessary. Thanks in advance for your help!

Honestly, playing games in 4K usually means your PC will be working hard, which can lead to louder fans. You could try running your games at a lower resolution to see if that helps. And yeah, a quieter GPU might just be necessary if you can’t stand the noise!

I didn’t realize that before! Just wish I had known when I chose my monitor, 4K is a bit overkill when you can’t really tell the difference from 1440p sometimes.

Have you checked your GPU temps? If they’re around 85C while gaming, you might want to consider undervolting. It can help lower the temps and consequently reduce fan noise.

Yes, I noticed it gets quite hot while playing certain games, around 85C for Oblivion Remastered. Seems like I might need to make some adjustments!

If you have some thermal headroom, consider turning your fans down even more. Also, make sure your case is well-ventilated and check for any dust buildup which might be causing your GPU to work harder than it needs to.

What case are you using? Sometimes the 3080 can get hot, so it's worth clearing out dust. Adjusting the fan speeds based on GPU temps using software like FanControl can really make a difference. You might want to cap your FPS as well to help reduce the load and noise.
