I'm using Windows 11 and I'm looking for a way to spin down my internal HDD manually. I only want the drive to spin up when I actually need to access it. I've tried several methods, including setting the HDD to offline in Disk Manager, disabling it in Device Manager, turning off indexing and virtual memory, adjusting the power settings to turn off the drive after one minute, and even disabling the corresponding SATA port in the BIOS. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried has worked and the HDD keeps spinning continuously.

Typically, the drive should only spin when there's data being read or written. Just to clarify, is your operating system installed on that HDD? If it is, then it will spin up for system processes. If it’s a secondary drive, though, it could be something in your settings keeping it active.
It sounds like you're doing everything right, but one workaround might be to consider using an external enclosure for your HDD. That way, you can physically disconnect it when not in use. It might not be the solution you want, but it can give you the control you need without constant spinning.
I get why you'd want that control! If the drive's always spinning and it's noisy, that makes sense. Have you checked if there are any background tasks that might be accessing the HDD? Sometimes, processes can cause it to stay active even when you think it shouldn’t be.
