How can I open a 10-year-old Lotus Notes (.nsf) file?

I'm trying to access an old Lotus Notes file that contains important email messages from 10 years ago. I did some quick research and found out that .nsf files are proprietary to IBM, which seems to mean that there are no free programs available to open them. Is my only option to buy a Lotus Notes license, or are there other ways to access the contents of this file?

Another option is to install Lotus Domino or Notes and use a trial license for a short period. You can run it in a virtual machine and see if it allows you to open your NSF database.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll give the trial a shot and see if it works.

Be cautious, though. Working with Lotus Notes can be tricky, especially if the file is tied to an old domain or encrypted. If things get complicated, it might be worth consulting with some experts.

You might want to look into using an NSF viewer or try converting the file to a PST format. These tools can often help you access the contents without needing the full Lotus Notes software.

Have you thought about using an NSF to PST conversion tool? Some people have found success with them, but just make sure to do your research. There are some sketchy options out there.
