I'm trying to reset my old 2018 HP laptop so I can give it to my sister. I've followed the reset process—going through settings to reset the PC and choosing the option to clear everything. However, I keep ending up at a black screen with a message that says:
"A winpeshl.ini file is present, but no commands were successfully launched. This could be caused by incorrect formatting or an invalid executable name. Please consult the documentation for more information.
X:windowssystem32>"
I've looked at various tutorials online but they haven't helped me get past this screen. I really need to wipe all files completely. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?

Yeah, the reset process can fail sometimes, especially with older laptops. It’s definitely not out of the ordinary. I say go for the clean install instead. If you need help finding a good guide, let me know!
It sounds like you might be facing an issue with the built-in factory reset function on your HP laptop. A lot of people have found that it can be pretty unreliable and causes errors like this. Instead of using that method, I’d recommend doing a clean install of Windows. This usually resolves such issues and ensures everything is wiped properly. You can find step-by-step instructions in a guide online—just look up something like 'clean Windows install'. Good luck!
