How Can I Quickly Move My OS to an SSD?

Hey everyone, I'm running Windows 11 on a setup with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, 32GB RAM, and a 2060 graphics card. My computer has turned EXTREMELY slow lately—especially when waking up from sleep, it takes about 5 minutes to open anything. According to Task Manager, my C drive (an HDD) is constantly at 100% usage, and I suspect it might be failing. I've got two SSDs available: one is a Samsung EVO 250GB, and the other is an NVMe with 953GB of space.

I really need to get my system back to speed quickly for work. How can I effectively use the NVMe SSD to run my OS and transfer my files over? Will I need to reinstall Windows, and how do I go about doing this? I'm ordering an SSD to replace the HDD, but it won't arrive for a couple of days. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You can use Macrium Reflect to clone your OS from the HDD to the NVMe SSD. Just make sure the SSD is empty, as this process will format it. Once cloned, you might have to change the boot order in your BIOS to ensure your PC boots from the NVMe drive instead of the HDD.

It's true that older spinning drives can't keep up with the demands of Windows today, especially during wake-up processes. Your HDD is probably fine mechanically, but it's just not suited for modern use. The best move would be to install Windows directly on the NVMe SSD instead of cloning, which could lead to issues. A fresh install will give you a clean slate and optimal performance!
