How can I quickly warm up my M2 MacBook Air left in the cold?

I've been noticing that my M2 MacBook Air feels uncomfortably cold when I first take it out of my car in the morning. It usually takes about 20 minutes of regular use before it warms up enough to use comfortably on my lap, and in the meantime, I often find myself reaching for my iPhone instead, which leads to procrastination. I'm looking for solutions to heat it up more quickly—maybe a specific benchmark or game that can generate some heat in just a few minutes? And please, no suggestions like just wearing pants; I want to take advantage of working from home! I've got the 15" version with 16GB of RAM, otherwise it's a base model. Any ideas?

Rapid heating can cause condensation, which isn’t good for your laptop. Seriously consider bringing it inside instead of leaving it in your car. Apple recommends keeping laptops in temperatures ranging from 50°F to 95°F (10°C to 35°C).

I get what you mean, but even at 58°F inside, my legs are much warmer! It’s frustrating.

Maybe try some light physical activity, like a quick massage for your laptop! Seriously though, it’s great to see a touch of humor in forum posts like this.

When the M2 was first released, some users found that the cooling system wasn’t fully connected to the chassis, so they added thermal pads inside. This helped with performance under heavy load, but it also made the bottom of the laptop get pretty hot quickly. Just keep in mind, however, that turning on a cold laptop can cause condensation and risk frying your device, so heating it up too fast isn’t a smart move.

Why not just stop leaving the laptop in the cold car? I think that's the simplest solution!

It might sound crazy, but leaving your expensive laptop in the cold car overnight isn't the best idea. Why not bring it inside when you're done using it?

Good point! By that logic, maybe I should just move the whole car inside the bedroom!
