I've been trying to access my AWS account after not using it for a couple of years. When I attempt to log in, I get an error message that says "There was an error. An AWS account with that sign-in information does not exist. Try again or create a new account." However, when I try to create a new account, it tells me that my email is already in use. I've reached out to support, but they said they can't discuss my account specifics without me logging into the console first, which is frustrating since I can't log in. Is there any way to recover my account or find out more details about it?

Just a heads up, if your account has been closed, the email linked to it is no longer usable. You would need to register with a new email. It can be tricky, so double-check that you didn't accidentally close it before proceeding.
Hey there! I totally get how frustrating this situation is. Have you checked out this guide: https://go.aws/44OrvEf? It has steps on recovering a password for an account. If you’ve already tried that without luck, let me know your case ID through chat, and I'll dig into this further for you.
Are you sure you're trying to log in with the right type of account? If you’re looking for an IAM login, that’s different than the root account. Make sure you have access to the email associated with the root account, as you should be able to reset the password from there. Also, check if multi-factor authentication (MFA) is set up; it might be tied to a device you still have.
I can't even get to the 'forgot password' section at that link! It keeps saying there's an error about the account not existing. I've tried to create a new account, but it says my email is already taken. I might really have an IAM account, but I just can't remember after so long.
