Last week, my mom got married, and we hired a photographer to capture the special moments. Unfortunately, when we checked the photos, we discovered that about half of the JPG files are corrupted. The photographer attempted to recover them but had no luck. I've managed to get a copy of the files and I'm hoping to find a way to potentially fix them. What steps can I take or what should I look for? Any help would be appreciated!

You might want to look into a professional card recovery service. Many cameras come with dual card slots to avoid issues like this. Keep in mind that unlike computer drives, memory cards don’t have built-in diagnostics, so you might not know when a card is failing.
It really depends on the corruption type, but I think the chances are slim. Watch out for companies offering fixes—they often make big claims. Be cautious!
Honestly, a good photographer should’ve used multiple cards to prevent this kind of loss. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound promising for your files. Uncompressed images like bitmaps could recover better than JPGs, but it’s frustrating when you rely on JPG format for a wedding. Better luck next time!
I love tackling issues like this! It's unusual to have so many files corrupted—this might indicate a failing SD card. If you're willing, upload one of the problematic files to see if I can help. Just a heads up, though: if it’s an SD card issue, there might only be partial recoveries, and some parts could be unusable for wedding photos.
I tried to upload the files myself but got a message saying "unable to read the provided image." I can’t link to Google Drive either, so I'm kinda stuck—but I'm still willing to give it a go since we don't have many other photos.

I also have some software that could work on a single image. You never know, we might get lucky!
