Hey everyone! So, my Asus gaming laptop has completely died and won't turn on at all. I've got some important files on it that I really need to recover. I heard that if I take out the SSD and use an enclosure, I can access the data from another computer. Can someone explain how that works in simple terms? What do I need to buy, and how do I figure out what kind of SSD is inside? I'm pretty worried about losing my files, so any advice would be super appreciated. Thanks!

You can find out what kind of SSD is in your laptop by looking up the model number. Just remember there are a lot of different models out there, which can be confusing. Since you're taking the SSD out anyway, I recommend opening it up first. If it's older, it’s probably a standard 2.5 drive, but if it's newer, it could be M.2. Once you find out, you can get the right enclosure—most places sell ones that fit both types. Good luck with it!
To recover your data, you'll need a screwdriver to open up your laptop case. Then, take out the SSD and put it into a USB enclosure. After that, just plug it into a working computer, and you should be able to access your files through File Explorer. Simple as that!
Thanks a lot! Are my Chrome bookmarks and history also recoverable?
One tip: when transferring files, hold down the Shift key while moving them. If you don’t, you might just copy them instead of moving them to the new drive.

Thank you!
