I recently lost my phone and I'm worried about how to recover my emails, photos, and videos. I'm curious about where everyone stores their data and if there are ways to automatically back up data to the cloud. Do you guys use password managers or just jot them down on paper? I've lost a lot of important data before, so I'm looking for solid strategies to prevent this from happening again. Is Google Drive a safe option for storing data? What measures do you all take to protect your information?

I’m cautious with my data. Instead of relying solely on cloud services, I sync/upload all my data to a home PC that also backs up to a NAS device. This way, you’re in control, and if something happens, you can restore from your last good backup. Plus, I make sure to power off the NAS when it's not in use to avoid any potential damage.

I recommend setting up cloud backups that work continuously. I have my data backed up automatically to a cloud service and I also do monthly backups to my PC, which itself is backed up to the cloud! This way, there's always a copy out there just in case.

I have my phone backing up to the cloud, plus I use a password manager that syncs with it. If my Android ever goes missing, I can recover everything on another device, but there’s a bit of setup involved. With my iPad, it’s super easy; I just had the Apple store transfer everything to my new device from the backup and was good to go!

Most phones these days will back up to the cloud automatically by default. Just check your settings to make sure it's all set up properly. That way, if you lose your device, you'll have most of your data safe and sound.

Restoring on iPhones is generally smooth; your apps and photos come back, but just keep in mind that you might need to re-enter some passwords. So, it's good practice to store important passwords somewhere safe, maybe on paper just in case!
