How can I recover photos from a broken phone screen?

Hi everyone! My friend's phone screen has gone completely dark after a drop, and she's in distress about losing her precious photos of her late pets. We're looking for ways to recover the photos without having to fix the screen right away (it's a recent replacement!). I thought about connecting it to a computer, but it doesn't show up in the devices section. Any advice on how we might retrieve these photos would be greatly appreciated!

What type of phone is it? Most newer phones automatically back up photos to services like iCloud or Google Photos. If this is the case, your friend's photos might already be saved there!

Not to give her friend too much credit — we see tons of people without backups for their 'irreplaceable' content. Always best to check!

Unfortunately, the best way to access the photos might be to replace the screen again. Without it, you won't be able to approve any prompts that pop up when you connect it to a PC. Setting up a proper backup solution for the future, like cloud syncing, is definitely worth considering for important photos like these.
