How can I recover photos from a formatted SD card?

I accidentally formatted the SD card in my Fujifilm JX370 digital camera, and it erased all my precious pictures. I've removed the card and haven't used it since. Is there any hope for recovering those lost photos? I'm really upset because many of these images hold sentimental value for me.

Honestly, it might be too late. Once formatted, the data can often be gone for good. I feel for you—losing photos like that is rough.

If you're up for it, consider getting a new SanDisk SD card. They offer free photo recovery software that has worked wonders for me in the past. It's saved pictures from cards I've formatted multiple times! Check it out on their support site for details.

It really depends on how the formatting was done. If it was a low-level format, you might be toast because that overwrites everything. But if it was a quick format, definitely try the recovery software options I mentioned. You might be able to get a good chunk of those memories back!

Thanks a lot! I ended up trying both Disk Drill and Recuva, and I managed to recover a huge majority of my pictures! 🙂

First off, don’t use the card anymore! You should try using recovery software like Recuva or PhotoRec to see if you can get those photos back. Many people have had success with these tools. Just remember to back up your images to at least two different devices in the future—SD cards can be risky!

I've had mixed results with Recuva too, but if you haven't used the card since formatting, you have a decent shot at recovering a lot of your photos!
