I'm looking to build a PC that can handle games like Star Citizen, but I'm hoping to cut down on costs while maintaining good performance. I found this build on PCPartPicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dVYHKq. Additionally, I'm curious whether it's more efficient to have a separate SSD for the operating system and applications or if a single larger SSD would be more cost-effective. Any advice?

If you can, try to purchase the 9070 XT closer to its MSRP. I found it available at Central Computers for about $750. Just remember, paying $900 for it is costlier than getting a 5070 TI, which actually performs better.
Consider making some small adjustments to your parts. I found a build that tweaks a few things and still provides great performance: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6Lj2np. For the AIO cooler, I switched to a slightly pricier option that actually performs better with the 9800X3D. Just so you know, the type of SSD you choose won’t really impact your framerate, and the load time difference is just a fraction of a second. Also, when using DDR5 6400 RAM, make sure to enable FCLK 1:1 in the BIOS for best results. Overall, most components can be swapped out for cheaper alternatives without losing performance.
I managed to find the 9070 XT for $700 in a bundle that includes a motherboard, so that’s good news!
