How can I remove a browser hijacker from my computer?

I'm a college freshman and I recently discovered my internet browser has changed from Chrome to Yahoo without my consent. I've tried to switch it back, but nothing seems to work. I suspect a browser hijacker is responsible, but I've run multiple scans—like McAfee and Microsoft Defender—and they all say my computer is fine. My laptop is an Omen 16, which I mainly use for my college assignments and playing games from Steam. I'm really stressed out about this because I don't want to risk any harm to my work or feel embarrassed if I have to take it to tech support. Should I try reinstalling my browser or is there a better solution? Any advice would be appreciated!

Have you tried clearing your browser's cache and cookies? Sometimes, browser hijackers can hide in temporary files. It might also help to completely uninstall and then reinstall Chrome. Just make sure to not log into your Google account right away to see if that fixes the redirect issue.

So the offline Microsoft scan reset my caches too, right? If that's the case, I just need to reinstall now?
