How Can I Remove McAfee When It’s Causing Issues?

I've been dealing with a frustrating problem lately. For the past couple of days, whenever I type something into Google, it redirects me to a Yahoo search instead. After some sleuthing, I realized that the McAfee app is the culprit. I've had it installed for a while without any major issues, but now it's causing this annoying redirect. I've tried a bunch of methods to remove it: deleting all McAfee files from my Windows 11 computer, uninstalling it via the Control Panel and Settings, and even using the McAfee removal tool twice. Despite my efforts, nothing seems to work. I've also run multiple malware scans, but they all say my computer is clean. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I might be missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried uninstalling McAfee while in safe mode? Sometimes it helps clear away stubborn programs that refuse to budge through regular methods.

It sounds like you've done a lot already, but if McAfee is still causing problems, you might want to check your browser's extensions or plugins. McAfee sometimes adds itself as an extension and that could be responsible for the redirect. If that's not the case, it could actually be malware masquerading as McAfee, which is why I suggest a full wipe and reinstall of Windows as the ultimate fix. Better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to your personal info!

I noticed the same issue with McAfee on my machine. When I searched online, there were links with 'mcafee' in the URL. I had to dig deeper into my browser settings and remove the extension to fix it.
