Hey everyone! About ten years ago, my uncle gave my grandma an iPhone SE, but they didn't know how to use it, so she handed it down to me. Back then, I didn't have my own Apple ID, so I used a friend's ID to log into the phone. Unfortunately, I'm no longer in touch with that friend, and now I really want to unlock the phone, but I don't have the original purchase receipt either. What are my options?

You should definitely try to contact that friend if you can, but I get it, it’s tough if they're not around anymore. Just remember, it's usually not a good idea to use someone else's account on your devices in the first place. It can lead to situations like this!
Honestly, it might be easier just to buy a new phone. I know it’s a bummer, but trying to deal with this activation lock can be a real headache sometimes. Good luck!
Unfortunately, there aren’t many options to get past the activation lock. You’ll need the original Apple ID and password to unlock it, or you can try to reach out to Apple with proof of purchase, which you mentioned you don’t have. You might want to check out Apple’s support page for more details.

Yeah, I was just a kid back then, and sadly my friend has passed away.
