How Can I Render a Smaller Game Resolution with Black Bars on an Ultrawide Monitor?

I'm currently borrowing my friend's ultrawide monitor that has a resolution of about 3400x1440. My RTX 2070 Super has trouble keeping up with 60 FPS in Battlefield 6 at that resolution. While I'm waiting to upgrade my GPU, I want to run the game at a lower resolution but have black bars on the sides instead of stretching the display. Is there any software or setting that can help me achieve this effect, rendering a smaller area (like around 2140x1440) while keeping the rest of the screen blacked out?

You can try using the Nvidia Control Panel! Go to 'Adjust desktop size and position', set it to 'no scaling', and then either adjust the in-game resolution or the desktop resolution to fit. This way, you should be able to run your game with black bars on the sides without it being stretched.

Another option is to lower the desktop resolution itself. If that doesn’t work for you, just set the game to a lower resolution. What you're describing sounds like it doesn't exist because you can achieve the effect with one of these methods.

I tried that method, and it made everything look blurry. Any ideas to avoid that?

I'm not entirely sure, but isn’t it possible to just select a lower resolution in the game settings? That might be the easiest solution.

Even if there was software for this, it wouldn't really be much different from just playing the game in a smaller window with a lower resolution.

That's actually exactly what I’m trying to avoid.
