I'm looking to set up X11 GNOME on Fedora because my GPU uses the 470xx drivers and the nouveau driver is pretty slow. I really enjoy using GNOME, so I'd like to know if I need to stick to a specific version like Fedora 42, or if I can enable X11 GNOME in Fedora 43 or 44.

Fedora 43 has dropped support for X11, and Fedora 44 will be rolling out with GNOME 50, which won't support it either. Your best bet is to stick with Fedora 42 since it’ll only be supported for another month, or switch to Fedora 43, which has about seven months of support left. You might also want to check for a COPR that could re-enable the X11 session for you.
You might want to try a less opinionated distribution. But honestly, switching distros won't resolve the fact that GNOME 50 is completely dropping X11. Any maintained distro that includes GNOME will eventually move to GNOME 50+, so be prepared for that.
Consider looking into older versions of Fedora. If you need that X11 GNOME experience, sticking to older releases might be your only option right now.
