How Can I Safely Carry My Keycard Without Damaging It?

I live in a university dorm that uses keycards for both building access and my apartment. The problem is that I can't keep my keycard next to my phone or in the card holder on my phone case, or it wipes the data. It's really frustrating because when I'm doing chores like laundry or taking out the trash, I don't want to carry a bag or my wallet just for a quick trip. Is there a way to keep the card on the back of my phone or digitize it like credit cards? I've wiped them by accident before, and dealing with this for ten months of the year is a hassle.

It sounds like your keycard could be an NFC card, and while some phones can handle reverse NFC, it's best to check whether yours can. If your phone is only interfering when in close proximity, you might just need to be cautious. Try not to place the card directly next to your phone. I think it’s worth checking if that’s indeed the problem rather than the card itself being damaged just by being nearby.

I have an iPhone 13, and yeah it seems to be a common issue with plastic cards like that. I've had hotel keycards and travel passes get wiped too, so I get your frustration.
