How can I safely dispose of floppy disks without a drive?

I have a bunch of floppy disks that belonged to my late dad, and I need to get rid of them, but I don't have a floppy disk drive. Some of these disks have sensitive tax information from as far back as 2005, so I want to ensure they are deleted or destroyed properly before I throw them away. What are my options for safely handling these disks?

If you're dealing with the standard 3.5-inch disks, consider getting a USB floppy disk drive online. You can plug it in, transfer the files to a computer, and then wipe the disks clean before disposal. But if you want to destroy them completely, magnets work too! Just rub a powerful magnet over the disk.

The easiest way to deal with them is to break open the plastic case and then cut the magnetic disk inside into tiny pieces with scissors. You could also remove the metal slider and just rip the disk apart for extra safety. Taking a shredder to the broken pieces could work too! Just make sure nothing is left that can be read or reconstructed.
