Hi everyone, I live in the northeast U.S. and with winter approaching, the humidity levels are dropping significantly. Currently, my room is at 29% humidity, and I'm concerned about the potential for electrostatic discharge (ESD) affecting my PC. I've been considering getting a humidifier but I'm unsure if that would be a good idea with my PC in the same room. What routines or precautions would you suggest to keep my setup safe from ESD over the next six months? I have a 5090 and a 9950x3d build, so I want to ensure everything stays in good condition. Just to note, I usually stay out of my PC, and if I need to work on it, I plan to move it to a different room. Thanks for any advice!

No need to stress too much! The static won’t just leap across the room to your system. Just make sure to take ESD precautions when you do need to open it up. A good practice is to touch the metal case before you touch any components to discharge any static build-up.
I recommend waiting until it gets warmer before working inside your PC. But if you really have to, just touch something metal first or consider using an ESD wrist strap. I've built plenty of computers without any special precautions, and they’ve lasted for years. Just keep an eye on things, and you'll be fine!
