How can I set realistic goals for becoming a developer?

I'm currently taking a Javascript course after having completed web development courses before, but I'm feeling a bit lost on how to progress as a developer. I set myself a goal to build a website in one month, but it feels unrealistic considering my current skill level. I'm worried about rushing to create a portfolio, especially since the job market seems tough right now, and I'm anxious about not having the right skills. I've graduated and finished my courses, yet I struggle with creating fully functional web applications without help. I often find myself intimidated by more experienced developers who seem so capable. I really want to become job-ready and specialize in frontend development, but I'm questioning whether a month is a sufficient timeline or if I should extend it.

Honestly, aiming for "job ready" in one month is pretty unrealistic. I'd recommend giving yourself about 6 to 12 months of consistent practice. Start with a small project, build it completely, and then refine it later. It's totally normal to make some rough drafts at first; you'll get better as you go! Plus, the job market is pretty competitive right now, so don’t rush—it’s more about steady improvement than quick results.

I agree! It's better to take your time and really learn the skills rather than just try to rush a portfolio together. Plus, a strong foundation will help you a lot in the long run.
