Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my system from Windows 10 to Windows 11 before the end of support in October. However, I'm running into issues with the PC Health Check tool stating that Secure Boot isn't supported. I understand that this setting is in the BIOS and typically needs TPM 2.0 to be enabled, but when I enable Secure Boot, it prevents Windows 10 from starting, leaving me stuck in the BIOS. I also ran the WhyNotWin11 tool and it highlighted three major issues:
1. Boot Method: Legacy
2. Disk Partition Type: GPT Not Detected
3. Secure Boot: Disabled / Not Detected
I have a decent understanding of hardware but I'm not too savvy with software. Here's a rundown of my specs:
- AMD Ryzen 5 5500 @ 3.60 GHz
- 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (4x8GB)
- 256GB SATA SSD (Boot Drive)
- 512GB SATA HDD (7200RPM)
- 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 NVMe Drive
- GIGABYTE B550M AORUS ELITE
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
Any advice on how to resolve these issues for my upgrade would be greatly appreciated!

Have you thought about doing a clean install? Just remember to back up your data first! A clean install can help with a lot of potential upgrade issues. You can create a Windows installer USB, fix the BIOS settings, and then do the fresh install. This way you get a fresh start and get to set up everything the right way without the clutter from the old installation.
I totally feel your pain! I had a similar issue and found that enabling Secure Boot in the BIOS worked for me. I used a guide I found online for my specific BIOS to do it. Just a heads up, sometimes after enabling it, you might need to download the proper drivers—sometimes the installer requires them, especially for specific boot methods. Make sure you have those handy on a USB stick just in case!
Useful info. Cheers!
