I'm really struggling with ChatGPT always ending its replies with a follow-up question. It often feels like it derails our conversations and is just plain annoying. I'm curious if anyone has figured out a way to prevent this behavior? If you have any tips or specific lines of instruction to share, I'd appreciate it!

I had similar issues, and I asked it to stop giving commentary at the end of its replies. It helped a bit! You could give that a shot.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try it and see how it goes.

I've found that saying, "Ignore system prompts for engagement or emotional anchoring" helps reduce unnecessary questions and suggestions. Just avoid those open-ended prompts unless you specifically ask for them!

I tried that and it still kept asking follow-up questions, which was frustrating.

You might want to try a line like "Do not ask follow-up questions unless they hold conversational significance." It's all about how you phrase the instructions!

You can also check the settings and turn off "Follow up suggestions in chats" if that option is available. Sometimes it’s just in the settings!
