How can I stop Command-Tab from showing the desktop when switching apps?

I've been having trouble with the Command-Tab shortcut on my Mac. When I minimize an application and try to switch back to it using this shortcut, it just takes me to a desktop view instead of the app I want. Is there a setting I can adjust to fix this issue?

I totally get your frustration! This behavior can be really annoying. I find that even though the app's menu bar shows up, I still need to click 'Window' and then select the app from there, which is just not how it should be. Apple needs to fix this!

Are you minimizing apps while they're in full screen mode? That might be part of the problem. The app switcher doesn't really work well when applications are in full screen—it seems poorly done in macOS.

Same here! I try to avoid minimizing apps for this reason. I came across a tip that might help, but it's tricky. If you have multiple windows of an app open, it often only restores one window—even if both are minimized. You can check out this link for more info: [tip to restore a minimized window](https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/rt9kzf/tip_restore_a_minimized_window_from_dock/) but it still won't work perfectly for all situations.

I use a tool called BetterTouchTool for macOS. It really makes the minimize and maximize functions behave more like Windows. It might help you navigate through your windows better, even when they're in full screen!

So will I be able to cycle through all windows even when they’re in full screen with that tool?
