My wife recently got locked out of her Yahoo email due to 2FA linked to her old phone number, and we couldn't get any helpful support from Yahoo unless we paid for it. We switched her Apple ID to her Gmail to regain access to her contacts, but her Yahoo account is still listed under her iCloud settings. Now, her iPhone keeps prompting her to enter the password for that Yahoo account. Every time we enter the password, it requests 2FA and we can't complete it. What can we do to stop these annoying notifications?

I think you're right to seek help since this is a bit convoluted. If your Apple Support recommended keeping the Yahoo account, maybe clarify with them what they meant. Because if you don’t need that Yahoo email anymore, removing it should be an option. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask for more advice if you need it!
It sounds like a classic case of email permissions crossing wires. If the Yahoo account is just being used as a username for the Apple ID and isn’t actively tied to any services, you could just go into Settings, open Mail, and remove the Yahoo account from your phone. That should clear those password prompts. Just keep in mind, if you’ve got any data tied to that account, you might lose access to it.
