Hey everyone! I have an MSI Thin A15 B7VF-203CA with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS and RTX 4060, and it gets pretty hot when I do anything beyond just browsing or basic tasks. The heat primarily comes from the top left of the keyboard, where the metal part is. Even when I'm just using it for schoolwork unplugged, it feels uncomfortably warm. I've checked the cooling system and it's definitely generating heat from the top fins and heat pipe. I clean it regularly, including reapplying thermal paste and replacing thermal pads with Thermal Grizzly products. I've also adjusted the fan curves and used the turbo fan mode, but nothing seems to help. Unfortunately, MSI has restricted the use of software like Ryzen Master, which makes undervolting impossible. I bought a cooling pad thinking the airflow wasn't enough, but it didn't make much difference. The CPU is the only component that overheats; everything else stays cool. Any suggestions on how to tackle this frustrating problem?

It sounds like your thermal paste application could be the issue. Make sure it's spread evenly and not too thick; a poor application can really cause heat problems. Also, if you've changed it multiple times without success, maybe it's worth trying a different brand than Thermal Grizzly. Have you thought about using MX4 or PTM 7950 instead?
I agree, I've heard some people mentioning that Thermal Grizzly can have thermal runout, where its performance drops off as it heats up. You might want to switch to MX4. It tends to be a lot more stable. And as for undervolting, I totally get it—MSI's restrictions are such a pain! Maybe check if there's a BIOS update that could change those restrictions.
