How Can I Tell if My Laptop Has a Virus After Visiting Suspicious Sites?

I recently tried downloading some mods for a game and ended up clicking a link that redirected me to some shady sites, including one called linkpays, thetrendverse, and metavisein. I was logged in for only about 10 seconds and although I have Adblock installed, I'm really worried that something might have been downloaded and could potentially be mining data. I deleted the cookies and reported the browser as soon as I closed it, but I'm still feeling insecure about the whole situation. What should I do next?

Honestly, there's no way to be sure if you’ve got malware without a thorough check. If you visited sketchy sites and didn’t install anything, you might be fine. Still, I'd recommend doing a secure wipe of your PC and reinstalling from scratch if you want to be absolutely certain. Just keep an eye out for any strange behavior and don’t just click on links blindly in the future.

I just checked, and I didn't download anything after noticing how fishy the sites looked. I exited quickly, deleted cookies, and I think the "report the browser" part was just a translation mix-up. Fingers crossed I'm all good!
