I'm having trouble getting my mother's contacts from her SIM card onto her new Samsung Galaxy A16. We both recently got the same model, and during the setup at the store, they transferred everything from our old phones. My contacts came through just fine, but my mother's are missing. She's only seeing the default testing contacts. I tried to import and merge them through the contacts app, but nothing worked. Her old phone didn't have any Internet or backup set up, and I'm wondering if the SIM card is wiped or if there's something else we can do to retrieve those contacts. Any ideas?

It sounds like your mother’s old phone may not have synced with any Google account, which could explain the missing contacts. SIM cards can typically hold only around 99 contacts, but if hers had more, they might not have transferred. I recommend checking her old phone's settings to see if it was logged into a Gmail account with backups enabled. If it was, sign in on her new phone, and wait a bit for contacts to appear. If not, definitely visit the network shop to see if they can help with the old SIM card. That might bring back the contacts.
Just a heads up, sometimes people forget to enable backup on their old devices! If she has her old phone, make sure to check that the backup settings for contacts and photos are active. Since you still have the old phones, you could also try popping the old SIM back in to see if the contacts are still there. Once you recover them, you can manually enter them into her new device.
