Hey everyone! I'm planning to get a new laptop but I need to transfer all my files from my old one first. The catch is, I'll be selling my old laptop before buying the new one, and I don't have a flash drive or hard drive big enough to hold everything. I do have some old laptops, but I doubt they have enough storage either. Should I just buy a new flash drive or is there a more efficient way to do this? Thanks for any advice!

I'd recommend getting a portable hard drive, preferably between 500GB and 1TB. They're pretty affordable, and after transferring your files, you can use the drive for backups in the future (because you should always back up your data, right?)
Think about it: if your laptop died today, would you lose everything? If so, it's essential that you get an external drive for backups. Once you sell your old laptop and move the files to the new one, you'll have a way to back everything up weekly.
You're right, I should definitely get one. Thanks!
It really depends on your file size and internet speed. If you have a good connection and your files are under 10GB, consider using a free cloud storage account. For 10 to 100GB, a one-month paid plan can work. But for 500GB, you'll likely need to buy an external drive. Plus, having one is a smart way to back up your data!
Looks like I need to get a drive then, since I have around 500GB to move.
Thanks for the tip! I actually don't back up my computer since I don't keep anything important on it, just school files and some unfinished projects.
