How can I transfer my iPhone photos to a USB flash drive?

I'm looking for advice on transferring a large number of photos from my iPhone 13 Mini to a 256GB USB flash drive. I have about 60GB worth of pictures (around 21,000) that I want to move off my phone. I initially tried using the Windows Photos app on my Windows 11 laptop, but it crashes after importing a few thousand pictures. I've searched for solutions online but haven't found anything that works. I'd prefer not to buy a lightning USB stick. Any tips to get this done?

You could try transferring your photos through File Explorer instead of using Windows Photos. It might work better and won’t crash as easily. Just plug your phone into your laptop and see if you can access it that way. Let me know if you need step-by-step help with that!

Do you know if that actually works? I tried moving files that way once, but the folders ended up empty.
